
As an account executive for RMPR, Laura uses her enthusiasm, attention to detail and exceptional writing skills to conduct research, organize and execute media relations outreach and provide trade show support for clients including Smith System, the Professional Awning Manufacturers Association and the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association (MNLA), Calypso Systems, Minnesota Nursery & Landscape Association, GoGirl and Hearing Components.
University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, School of Journalism and Mass Communications Bachelor's Degrees in Professional Strategic Communication and Communication Studies minor in cinema studies and media culture.
Prior to joining Risdall McKinney Public Relations, Laura worked as a college marketing representative for Walt Disney Studios and Buena Vista Pictures Marketing. In this position, she devised and implemented creative promotional strategies for Touchstone and Walt Disney Pictures films on Minnesota college campuses. She first gained strategic communication experience as a marketing volunteer for the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra where she researched expansion opportunities and maintained relationships with donors and ticket subscribers.
Laura helped create a Web site for the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association (MNLA) to present landscape, nursery and garden careers as a viable profession for high school students to pursue. In addition to the copywriting, Laura conducted primary (focus group) and secondary research to hone in on the types of career information desired by high school students and identify the appropriate "tone" for the web site.
Laura was the recipient of a Dr. Willard Thompson Scholarship at the 30th Annual Minnesota PRSA Classics Awards ceremony.
Arthur "AC" Nielsen is Laura's great-great-uncle; "he passed before I was born, but my grandfather refers to him fondly as "Uncle Art."
